Part Three: Reflect on your own personal learning journey throughout the personal project. Use each of the ATL skills and show how this experience has helped you develop (or not!) throughout. The personal project assesses students' Approaches to Learning skills for self-management, research, communication, critical and creative thinking, and collaboration. The personal project encourages students to practice and strengthen their ATL skills, to connect classroom learning engagements with personal experience, and to develop their own interests for lifelong learning.

Creative-thinking skills: How can students becreative? Generating novel ideas and considering new perspectives. Use brainstorming and visual diagrams to generate new ideas and inquiries.

Become an independent, lifelong learner and achieve your best possible project grade, while strengthening and practising your ATL skills. - Engage in practical explorations through a cycle of inquiry, action and reflection.

The personal project is the result of a self-directed inquiry within a global context, demonstrating the ATL skills, attitudes, and knowledge acquired in the MYP as well as responsible action through, or as a result of learning.

Developing new skills, techniques or strategies for effective learning Identifying strengths and weaknesses of personal learning strategies (self-assessment) Trying new ATL skills and evaluating their effectiveness Considering increased knowledge and understanding relating to the project topic.

The personal project encourages students to practice and strengthen their approaches to learning (ATL) skills, to consolidate prior and subject-specific learning, and to develop an area of personal interest through a creative product or outcome.

I do a lot of projects for all my classes. This is part of what makes learning more fun, because I get to have some choice in how and what I present. I know that I also have some big projects coming such as Personal Project or Extended Essay, so the more I learn about these skills now the better!
